Largest Government Passive RFID Deployment Completed for DLA
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is responsible for the logistics of consumable and repair parts at 26 Defense Distribution Centers (DDC) worldwide. The agency supports the US military services and the US Coast Guard.
In 2004, US Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, issued a policy requiring all suppliers to attach passive RFID tags on all packaging, excluding bulk commodities, by 2005.
In compliance with this policy, the Defense Distribution Centers (DDC), began initial RFID implementation and piloting in December 2004 at two strategic distribution centers.
By 2007, iMotion was installed at 26 US depots worldwide, managing hundreds of readers, doors and a multitude of buildings.
