What is the Edge?
The Edge is a term that describes the intersection of
reality and the computing network, the space where the
atoms and molecules meet the bits and bytes.
Edge computing represents an opportunity to synchronize
the activity of the real world with its representation
in the computing world, in order to correct exceptions
before they become problems, and to make the right
decisions right away.
Edge computing requires a balanced approach to working
with a variety of physical devices including RFID
Readers, Sensors and Actuators while supporting the
execution of Business Logic and Business Rules and
the application of Business Context.
Edge Processes are about manipulating devices locally
to properly collect data, (Activate Reader when motion
sensor is triggered) and generate enough business
logic to detect and rectify exceptions (Set off alarm
if wrong ID is detected) along with business context
to create actionable business events (Set of products
are being received in fulfillment of an order).
